Eric and I went to church service this morning at the church that we are planning to get married in, Bellaire Presbyterian Church. The Pastor, Pete Walburn, is Eric's best-friend Andy's father-in-law. Eric has known him for years, and since neither of us are members of a church, we thought it would be nice to have a family friend marry us. In addition, I was hoping to not be married in a modern-style church. I prefer the traditional look and feel. This church is it. It is beautiful. The architecture is amazing. Pete announced that they will be having Christmas Eve service at 10 pm, and I am hoping to attend! I really enjoyed today's service and would like to return.
Other than that, I think Eric and I are over "the wedding" already. Isn't that awful!!!! It is just unreal to think of spending a few thousand dollars on this, and it seems like the whole "wedding day" takes away from what we are really doing. It is not supposed to be about table covers, bows, and centerpieces, but when you are planning a party, I guess that is what you do really have to think about. At this point, I am constantly going back and forth between the traditional "wedding reception" and not having one at all, or maybe just a small gathering after the ceremony. Because any party or gathering that we think about has to revolve around the cost involved, the idea of not having a reception at all seems all the more enticing!! It is easier to have nothing than to have something small and excluding people very dear to us. So, at this point, we are on the fence.
Now that I have vented, I had better go work on cleaning this house some more. It is so overwhelming at this point. I haven't seen it this messy in a long time!! It's so bad that I just do not know where to start!!! Wish me luck!

I'm proud of you! You are right - a wedding is not a reception. It is about marrying the person you love. It is certainly not about putting yourself in debt for years to come. With all the money you save, you can have an extravagant honeymoon!
